Posted on : Monday , 5th January 2026

Tanzania has established a memorandum of understanding with Siemens Energy, located in Sweden, to create gas-fueled power plants with a total capacity of 177 megawatts, which is estimated to cost $320 million. The initiative, supported by CRDB Bank, entails the production of equipment in Tanzania, with the goal of commissioning it by the conclusion of 2027. The project is being led by Raddy Energy Solution Limited, the parent organization of Raddy Fibers.

The initiative is designed to boost Tanzania's power generation capacity to 1,000 megawatts by 2030, ensuring a reliable supply of electricity for local use and export. The partnership between Raddy Energy and Siemens Energy was facilitated by the Tanzania-Sweden business forum, which took place in Stockholm. The Tanzanian delegation was represented by Ambassador Mobhare Matinyi and Ramadhan Hassan Mlanzi, the CEO of Raddy Energy.

The project receives backing from several Swedish government entities, including the Swedish Energy Agency (EKN), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and Business Sweden. Furthermore, the Swedish National Institute of Technology (NIR) is set to provide technical support. This project is projected to strengthen Tanzania's energy sector and promote economic development through augmented power generation and infrastructure improvements. CRDB Bank is supplying the necessary financing for the project, with support from Swedish government agencies.

In addition, the timely initiative corresponds with Tanzania's developmental aims, focusing on improving access to dependable and affordable energy.

Siemens Energy will offer technical expertise and the necessary equipment for the project. Moreover, it is projected that this will create local employment opportunities and promote skills development in the energy sector. Raddy Energy and Siemens Energy will work in partnership to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

The Tanzanian authorities support efforts that facilitate economic development and bolster energy security through partnerships between the public and private sectors. The cooperation with Siemens Energy and Raddy Energy highlights the nation's commitment to the development of energy resources. This project marks an important milestone in the enhancement of Tanzania's energy infrastructure and economic potential. With this arrangement, Tanzania is ready to make a significant advancement in its energy sector.
