Rwanda’s set to fulfil energy generation ambitions

Posted on : Friday , 23rd September 2016

THE East African country’s development agenda of Vision 2020, which aims to achieve 70 percent electrification connectivity and 563 megawatt generation capacity by 2018, will be under the spotlight during the Infrastructure Partnerships for African Developments (iPAD) Rwanda Energy Infrastructure Forum in November.

The third edition of the iPAD returns to Kigali in with the continued strong, official support of the state power utility Rwanda Energy Group (REG), the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure as well as the Rwandan Development Board.
Minister of Infrastructure, James Musoni, will once again deliver the welcome address during the opening session of iPAD Rwanda on November 1.

“The continuing success of the event has provided in the national utility group and the Government of Rwanda the continued confidence to endorse the upcoming edition,” says Jean Bosco Mugiraneza, the CEO of REG.

The two-day forum provides market entry for international as well as local investors, financiers, project developers, advisors, technology and solution providers to join together in dynamic interactive discussions to develop the sector efficiently and effectively, setting clear strategies and public private partnerships for success.

“The networking opportunities provided for international and local solution providers to engage in credible business consortiums designed to deliver a viable investment and delivery plan to progress Rwanda’s energy mandate and assorted infrastructure projects avails our continuing support,” says Mugiraneza.

Last year, iPAD Rwanda drew almost 400 attendees from 30 countries, which represented an increase of 60 percent.
Spintelligent, leading Cape Town-based trade exhibition and conference organiser, and the African office of Clarion Events Ltd, based in the United Kingdom organise iPAD Rwanda.
