Ethiopia and Djibouti signs deal to build 765km pipeline

The government of Ethiopia and Djibouti has signed a deal to build a 765km pipeline to transport gas from the landlocked state to Djibouti, partly bordered by the red sea. The agreement which was signed between Minister of Ethiopia’s Mines and Petroleum Samuel Urkato and Djibouti’s Energy and Natural Resources Yonis Guldi, states that 700km pipeline will be installed in Ethiopian Territory while the remaining 65km will be within.... Construction of Kenya-Tanzania Power Interconnection Project Gears Up to Connect Southern Africa Power Pool

The Kenya-Tanzania Power Interconnection Project has been divided into several lots, with contractors on the Tanzanian side executing to set up a 510km 400kv transmission line and following substations in order to meet the 2020 completion deadline. TANESCO Power Project Extends Power Supply Across Africa

New firm gets concession to extract methane gas from Lake Kivu

Rwanda’s energy targets are set to get a boost following the government’s decision to provide a concession to a private investor to start production of methane gas from Lake Kivu. Government of Tanzania grants $8.7m for first geothermal project at Ngozi

Kenya pushes back plans for Sh968bn nuclear power plant to focus on renewables

Kenya’s Ministry of Energy has released an updated power development plan, unveiling the nation’s energy strategy between 2017 and 2037. Under the strategy, construction of the planned Sh968bn (US$9.6bn) nuclear power plant has been postponed by nine years. First phase of power pool project to be completion by mid 2019

Tanzania- Stieglers Gorge water project almost complete

 According to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Stiegler’s Gorge water project in Tanzania is now at 80% complete.
