 Kenya Electricity Generating Company Ltd. awarded a full turnkey contract for Olkaria I and IV to a consortium of Korea’s Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. and Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Tokyo:8015) in 2011. Kenya ranked eighth largest global geothermal producer

Vestas supply wind turbines for Kenya’s wind farm; firm’s largest single order

 Vestas has supplied 365 wind turbines that will see Kenya’s Lake Turkana Wind Power Project (LTWP) give off 310 megawatts. The order becomes the largest single order for the company. World’s first submarine cable to connect Africa and L. America

Kenya to begin selling power to Rwanda in 2015

 Kenya will begin to export power to Rwanda to help the latter meet its increasing demands for low cost electricity. This follows the signing of a power trade deal on Tuesday this week for construction of a 220kv power line from Kenya to Rwanda.   Kenya will start the sale of 30 MW of power from July next year according to the Power Purchase Agreement. Gigawatt Global to invest US$2b in generating 1000Mw of solar power for Africa

Gigawatt global is set to spend about US$2billion in developing and pumping 1000Mw of solar power in Africa by 2020.   Dutch company Gigawatt has said the 1000MW power project will have its roots in East Africa where the largest photovoltaic field will be built in Rwanda. Total completes gas pipeline section leading to Alaoji power plant
